Been reading here and using win 10 from the outset. On latest build, updated this morning. This Elan touchpad driver keeps coming in through windows update and it just screws up my touchpad more than anything. When it loads up I can no longer use rig. Elan Touchpad Driver 15.8.4.3_X64_WHQL update on Windows 10 disappeared. My asus laptop informed me to wait until my Elan Touchpad Driver finished updating, when it was done it then told me to restart then there was nothing. Previous to my update of Windows 10 (8.1) I had preinstalled Asus smart gesture bundled software that controlled my touchpad.
Just sharing this little nugget I found on the Internet after I found Synaptics' drivers for my Precision M3800's trackpad wanting.
There are some (eg those with an HP Spectre) saying they need some further tweaking as it breaks after a sleep-wake cycle, but it's working perfectly on my Dell with its Synaptics touchpad. It even solves the issue I'd been having with occasional mouse clicks not registering, which seems to be a common complaint with the M3800 (and the XPS 15 9530 it's based on).

The touchpad was originally called 'Dell Touchpad' in the device manager (not the SMBus Touchpad it mentions in the linked post) but it still worked just fine.
